January 11, 2020 Social and Member Event

Date & Time: Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1 PM – 5 PM
Location: Pearl Park Recreation Center, 414 E Diamond Lake Rd., Minneapolis, MN 55419

Mark your calendars! Join the local Egyptian American community for a fun, festive, family-friendly "kick off" event to begin 2020!
Come meet new friends and reconnect with old friends. We will provide light refreshments/appetizers, music, and activities, PLUS we will host a dessert contest! Meet the current EAS board, learn what we've been working on, and find out about activities we have planned and other priorities we are working on in 2020! 
All are welcome--past members, non-members and friends! This is also a great opportunity to join or renew your membership! (You can join or renew your membership for 2020 at the event!)
Admission: $5 for ages 13+ (Find out how membership helps you get discounts on EAS events and more!)
Event Schedule
1:00 Doors Open
2:00 Dessert contest voting begins
3:00 Dessert contest voting ends, presentation by the board and awarding of contest prizes.
5:00 Event ends, clean-up begins (by contract we are required to leave the space before 6 p.m.)
Dessert Contest As part of the event, we will have a dessert contest, complete with prizes for the winning entries! Demonstrate your culinary talent by bringing an item you've made.
Dessert Contest Rules:
  • The item should be something you have made. Any form of dessert is welcome.
  • There will not be cooking facilities available at the event, so please bring a serving utensil if needed. We will have paper plates for people to serve themselves.
  • Have a name for your entry--we will give you a card on which to write your name and the title of the dessert to help voters identify it.
  • You do not need to notify us of your entry ahead of time, just bring it with you. CONTEST BEGINS at 2 P.M. Please plan to arrive by 2 with your entry.
  • All event attendees will be able to vote for their favorites. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorites.
  • VOTING takes place between 2 and 3 p.m.. Winners (top three items) will be announced during the presentation after 3 p.m.

Pearl Park recreation center is just a few blocks off 35W in South Minneapolis. There is a parking lot on Diamond Lake Road in front of the building, and the facility is handicapped accessible.
